Annai Therasa Ninaivu Marriage Assistance Scheme For Orphan Girls
Introduction
This scheme was launched in the year 1984-1985 to support the orphan girls for getting married. In the year 1999 the scheme was named as Annai Therasa Ninaivu marriage assistance scheme for orphan girls. The financial assistance was increased from Rs.1000/- to Rs.20, 000/- gradually under this scheme.

What are the objectives of the scheme?
The scheme was initiated in the year 1984-1985 to help financially the orphan girls to get married.

What is the assistance provided under this scheme?
Rs.20,000 is provided in the form of cheque or demand draft as assistance under this scheme.

What are the criteria for availing the benefit under this scheme?
The criteria for availing the benefits under this scheme are:
1.          The annual income of the beneficiary should not exceed Rs.24,000.
2.          The minimum age limit of beneficiary should be 18 years and should not exceed 30 years.

Who are the beneficiaries under this scheme?
The orphan girls are beneficiaries under this scheme.

For the year 2010-2011 what is the budget estimated to be allocated for this scheme?
For the year 2010-2011 Rs.105.09 Lakh has been allocated in the budget for the beneficiaries under this scheme.

What is the time limit for sending the application?
The application has to be sent 45 days before the marriage takes place.

What are the certificates to be enclosed while sending the application for availing the scheme?
The following certificates to be enclosed while sending the application:
1.          Certificate showing that the applicant is an orphan.
2.          Income certificate of the applicant/guardian.
3.          Date of birth certificate of the applicant.

What is the estimated time limit for the process of applications?
From the date of receipt of applications, it will be processed within 15 days.

Who are the officials to be contacted by the beneficiaries for availing the scheme?
The District social welfare officer and extention officers (Social welfare)

Where should the grievance to be addressed?
The grievances may be addressed to:
1.          The Director, Tamilnadu State social Welfare Board, Chepauk, Chennai 600 005.
2.          District Collector
3.          District Social Welfare Officer.
