Introduction
The Maniammaiyar Ninaivu
marriage assistance schem for the daughters of the poor widows was launched
in the year 1981-1982.Initially during the launch Rs.1000/- was provided
and has been enhanced to Rs.20, 000 in the year 20th November 2008, to
perform the marriage of the poor widows daughters.

What are the objectives of the scheme?
The scheme was initiated in the
year 1981-1982 to help the poor mothers (who are widows) in the form of
financial assistance to perform marriage of their daughters.

What is the assistance provided under this scheme?
Rs.20,000 is provided in the
form of cheque or demand draft as assistance under this scheme.

What are the criteria for availing the benefit under this
scheme?
The criteria for availing the
benefits under this scheme are:
1.
The
annual income of the beneficiary should not exceed Rs.24,000.
2.
The
minimum age limit of beneficiary should be 18 years and should not exceed
30 years.
3.
Only
one daughter of the poor widow is eligible under this scheme.

The poor widows under this
scheme are the beneficiaries.

For the year 2010-2011 what is the budget estimated to be
allocated for this scheme?
For the year 2010-2011
Rs.11Crores has been allocated in the budget for the beneficiaries under
this scheme.

What is the time limit for sending the application?
The application has to be sent
within 3 months before marriage.

What are the certificates to be enclosed while sending the
application for availing the scheme?
The following certificates to be
enclosed while sending the application:
1.
The
death certificate of the husband o widowed mother/Widow certificate.
2.
Income
certificate of the of the widows family (From Thasildhar)
3.
Date
of birth certificate of the daughter of the poor widow

What is the estimated time limit for the process of
applications?
From the date of receipt of
applications, it will be processed within 15 days.
