Assistance Scheme
Introduction
This scheme was launched in the
year 1975 with the focus to rehabilitate the widows and to encourage the
widow remarriage. The financial support was gradually enhanced from
Rs.5000/- to Rs.20.000/- from November 2009.Also no income ceiling was
fixed to avail the scheme. The applications to avail the scheme will be
processed within 15 days.

What are the objectives of the scheme?
The scheme was initiated in the
year 1975, to encourage widow remarriage and rehabilitate widows are the
prime objectives of the scheme.

What is the assistance provided under this scheme?
Rs.20,000 is provided as
assistance in the form of Rs.10,000 as National saving certificate and
Rs.10,000/- as demand draft or cheque.

What are the criteria for availing the benefit under this
scheme?
The criteria for availing the
benefits under this scheme are:
1.
No
ceiling of annual income has been fixed for availing this assistance.
2.
The
minimum age limit of 20 years for the girl is fixed for availing the
assistance.

Who are the beneficiaries under this scheme?
The couples of remarriage under
this scheme are the beneficiaries.

For the year 2010-2011 what is the budget estimated to be
allocated for this scheme?
For the year 2010-2011 Rs.35
Lakh has been allocated in the budget to benefit poor widows for
remarriage.

What is the time limit for sending the application?
The application has to be sent
within 6 months from the date of marriage.

What are the certificates to be enclosed while sending the
application for availing the scheme?
The following certificates to be
enclosed while sending the application:
1.
The
death certificate of the first husband of the remarried women.
2.
Certificate
of registration of the 2nd marriage of the remarried widow.
3.
Date
of birth certificate of the remarried widow.
4.
Marriage
invitation of the 2nd marriage of the remarried widow.

What is the estimated time limit for the process of
applications?
From the date of receipt of
applications, it will be processed in 15 days.
